Six Sunday #4, New ON LAVENDER LANE sneak preview

Again, this week's sentences are from On Lavender Lane, the third in my Shelter Bay series — set on the magnificent Oregon coast, where my high school sweetheart proposed — which will be out from NAL Signet January 3rd. And again, I'll be giving away an ARC of Lucas and Maddy's story to someone who comments, with the winner announced here, on Facebook, and Twitter Monday.

When we left them, after her husband's sex video went viral, Madeline Durand has returned home to Shelter Bay to help her grandmother turn the family herb farm into a new business, only to find that the "summer boy" who broke her heart ten years ago, has signed on as contractor.

Although former Navy SEAL Lucas Chaffee is sorry Maddy's marriage has broken up, having screwed up their relationship once, he's determined that this time he's not going to let her get away. Enjoy:

"Don't you dare go there."

"Where?" he asked with feigned innocence, remembering the first time he'd talked her out of her bra.

"You know where."

Lucas found Maddy's flare of heat encouraging; better to have her angry at him than cool as a cucumber.

Cool could mean indifference.

Anger was an emotion he could work with.

Thanks so much for visiting and please stop by next week for six more sentences and another ARC giveaway!

Love ex-Seals, love lost and found again stories, love "don't go there" and his thought that anger is an emotion he could work with. What a fun story this is.

Sounds good. I love reunion romances and after all Maddy has been through she deserves some good wooing.

Thanks for all the small excerpts you've been giving us.

Really enjoying Six Sentence Sunday. Great concept.

I'm removing myself from the Arc-contest, because I have a Ross Arc for JoAnn's romantic suspense NO SAFE PLACE, which I won in an auction. :) Wahoo!

Good luck to all.

Thanks Vivien! Looking at all the Christmas stuff in the stories, I realize that January is right around the corner!

Megan -- I've always believed setting is character and to me, having grown up in Oregon and having my sweetie propose where Shelter Bay is set -- the coast is super romantic to me!

I know it's tougher on you, but I'm so glad we don't have to wait until July!

Oh I can't wait to read this. Jan seems so far away

JoAnn Ross said...

Jayel -- Yep. And, being a romance, in this case she's equally as angry at herself for letting those old feelings come back. ;)

Thanks Lisa!

Michelle -- Glad you're enjoying them! I'm having fun finding them each week.

Thanks to all for the comments. Due to 1) painting problems and 2) a friend going to the hospital, I probably won't be able to comment on all, but I am reading them and so appreciate the feedback! xo
