So, celebrity chef Madeline Durand's marriage is on the verge of collapse after her husband's sex video went viral. She returns home to Shelter Bay to sort out what she wants to do next with her life and help her grandmother to turn the family herb farm into a restaurant, only to find that former SEAL Lucas Chaffee, the "summer boy" who broke her heart ten years ago is on the job.
Lucas is determined not to let Maddy get away this time. However, she isn't exactly on the same page:
"Am I allowed to ask one question?"
"What?"
"Are you saying you've never thought about me?"
"Of course I have." Her smile was as cold and sharp as an ice pick. "Whenever I'm pounding cutlets or making sausage."
I hope you'll return next Sunday for the next six sentence episode in Lucas and Maddy's romance and another ARC giveaway. Meanwhile, one commenter today will receive an ARC and get to read the entire On Lavender Lane (pub date 1/3/12) early. Winner will be announced here, on twitter, and FB on Monday.

That's actually two questions and I love her line at the end. At least she didn't tell him he's "chopped liver". Great six, JoAnn. :)
So looking forward to this release. Well done!
Nice six!!
I am really looking forward to this AND the following story! I just love your heroes with heart!!
Great Tease. Cant wait to read this one.

Hahahaha. Go, Maddy! I don't think Lucas is ready for Maddy all grown up and wielding a meat tenderizer. Fun 6, JoAnn. Looking forward to reading this in full.
Ooooh!
Great sentences!! (but also such a tease!!!) :-)
Ouch!!!! I'm really starting to admire her!!
"Summer boy" sets up her opinion of him immediately. I see he helps with her cooking.
I am loving these snippets. It makes me want January to be her NOW...LOL
Thank you for these fun Sundays and Happy Thanksgiving.
I love that last line.. cracked me up...
Thanks for all the tantalizing "six" posts you have been doing.. I am soooooo looking forward to this book... Going to make good reading on a cold winter's night..
Sparkling, snappy dialogue! Love this exchange.
Snort. Love it. I can't wait to read this.
well, she could have said, skinning sausage.great snippet gave me a nice chuckle
Ouch! That had to hurt! Great Six, JoAnn!
Absolutely perfect six!
I'm eagerly awaiting On Lavender Lane!
Her smile was as cold and sharp as an ice pick. "Whenever I'm pounding cutlets or making sausage."
Oh, I love this!!!! I broke out laughing and scared the cat! Fantastic six!
Ah JoAnn! Maddy's sense of humor is hilarious! Cutlets and sausage... haha! Great six, as always. So looking forward to this book!

True, Siobhan! Chopped liver would not be a good thing!
Viven -- Thanks!
Thanks Heather and Judy!
O1's Mom -- I love the concept Heroes with Heart! Thanks! :)
Cara, lol. Earlier in the book, when she's thinking of her husband while flying back to NY on the plane, a cleaver does come to her Maddy's mind. :)
Liz -- :)
Ha! Poor Lucas. She's going to give him a really hard time, isn't she?
I'm looking forward to this release. Thanks for the giveaway.
lol. Can't hardly wait for the rest of that!
Thanks Kris!
Dee -- Yes, she is one tough cookie. (Note the culinary reference. lol. It's going to take a lot for Lucas to win her over. But for SEALs, failure is not an option. His idea, at the end of the book is probably one of the most fun things I've ever written. I just loved him even more and hope readers will, too.
Graylin -- Heating up an MRE is the height of Lucas' culinary talents. lol
Thanks Michelle, and Happy Thanksgiving to you, too!
Thanks Kathleen, and yes, Lucas and Maddy should warm up your January. :)
Thanks Taryn and Carrie Ann!
Graylin -- He was the rich boy who'd spent every summer in Shelter Bay at his family's summer home. So, although he knew all the guys -- and her -- he was only part of their lives a few weeks a year. That's another thing that's different about him. I don't usually write rich guys. But he doesn't act rich, because he's been living on his SEAL income.
Jayel -- Ouch! That's a mental image I now need to scrub out of my mind. LOL
Kallypso -- Funny you should say Ouch. The following line is, "Ouch. That sound you heard was my ego deflating." LOL
Thanks Gem and Susannah!
Melissa, Thanks, but please apologize to your poor cat for me!
Thanks Amy!
Yes, Jeannie, she's not in the mood at all. But he wins her over. With some help from the three-legged dog he brought home from Afghanistan. :)
Thanks Jennifer!
And you, too, Holiday Party Decorations! (For the rest of you, if you haven't checked out Holiday's blog, you should. Though warning, it could either have you feeling inadequate, or really kick in any Martha Stewart addiction!
Sounds like you're building some great tension here. I like the playful tone of the character who says pounding sausage! LOL. Very nice!
Looking foward to it finally coming out!!!! :)
Looking foward for this book to come out. These teaser are making me anxious. :)
Favorite so far.
Such a tease, can't wait for the real thing.
The last line had me laughing so hard.
OMG. That's fantastic! I love a good comeback and that's about as good as they get!
The more I read the more I want!!! Can't wait!
Oh yes, he has his work cut out for him. Love these excerpts! :)
lol, nice comeback from her! :D
Yes! Awesome comeback!
Another great 6!!! I get my frustrations out that way sometimes too...lol!
So wanting this in my hands now! A great six to make us crave more! Can't wait for release.
