Six Sentence Sunday #7 sneak preview from On Lavender Lane

This week Lucas hasn't yet worn her down, but he's definitely starting to get past Maddy's defenses! One commenter, selected at random, will receive an ARC of On Lavender Lane, Shelter Bay #3 (on sale January 3rd.) Winner will be announced here, on twitter, and my Facebook author page Monday.

Having married my husband twice (which is why I love reading and writing reunion stories!), I so identified with Maddy in this scene.

Enjoy:

As she climbed the steps up the cliff, Madeline sternly reminded herself that a strong, sensible, responsible woman who'd already been burned once by this man could not allow herself to be so easily turned into Silly Putty by a look. A touch. A laugh.

She was going to have to work on that.

Really, she was.

Beginning now.

This book just sounds like so much fun! And simply love the series so far. Thanks, JoAnn. And would so love to hear the back story of you! Bet it made writing this one a touch easier.

What fun. Sounds like she's trying desperately to convince herself. Love it.

Sounds like Maddy isn't so strong, sensible, or responsible where Lucas is concerned. Yay! Great 6, JoAnn. :)

Probably not as easy to resist the hero as she's hoping. A lot of feeling there! Enjoyed the excerpt as always!

Thanks, Sue. The backstory was tough at times. But after two years apart -- even living in different states -- I eventually let sweetie win me back. :D Best decision I ever made.

Jayel -- Yep. And it's especially tough because she's had a very tough couple of days!

Cara -- She's trying to be. But Lucas had a good, albeit dumb reason for what he did. And I think she's sensing that. Although when she finds out next week, she is NOT going to be happy! LOL

Thanks Shari!

Thanks Nancy! I'm glad you're enjoying them. Lucas and Maddy, with their history, just had me rooting for them from the beginning. I thought Lucas was going to end up with Sedona, the cupcake baker, and even had that story set up. But he wouldn't cooperate. Then, suddenly, the first line about Maddy's husband's sex video came into my head, there she was in my story (I moved her from chapter two to the first), and they took off. :)

Amy -- ALWAYS bet on the hero, or at least a happy ending in my stories. I've written category romance, contemporary romance, hardcover glitz, paranormal, romantic suspense, harder edge suspense, and military romantic suspense, and one historical masquerading as a time travel.

But the one thing all my books will always have is the bad guys get what's coming to them and the good people live happily ever after. In fact, that's always how I end the little bit I laughingly call a synopsis I send to my editor.

JoAnn Ross said...

Thanks Gayle!

Kallypso -- Thanks. Obviously, with my marriage history, I'm a huge believer in reunion romances. ;)

Thanks Liz!

Happy Sunday back, Stephanie. And yes, I did. It's on my Ten Things You Probably Didn't Know About JoAnn list: http://tinyurl.com/7nn6t6z

Thanks Siobhan! Yeah. She's not going to be able to make herself believe that. ;) Though she's going to give it a good try.

K.E. Yep. She's a goner. But that's a good thing. As she'll eventually realize.

Jonna Rae -- Well, it didn't work for me. But I held out longer than Maddy. (Then again, in real life, I didn't have an editor waiting for the end of our story. lol)

JoAnn Ross said...

Thanks Carrie Ann -- Funny thing, I've always written that way, but didn't even know there was such a thing as deep POV before people started giving workshops on it. Then again, I didn't know about the "dark moment "until I'd published about 35 books. lol

JoAnn Ross said...

Thank YOU for reading Guilie! And the lovely comment!

Nubian -- LOL. Guess you won't be spending a lot of time at Take the Cake? The chocolate Bailey's Irish is my fave there.

And yes, it's fictional, but I've still made all those cupcakes that get described. Same as I cooked everything people eat in On Lavender Lane. Which is pretty much a foodie book. I gained 10 lbs writing it, which shows the sacrifice I'm willing to make for my readers. lol

The problem with men is that, more often than not, they make us lose all sensibilities. Great six, JoAnn!

Yes, I think that everybody can relate to that sensation, of being determined to show willpower but not being certain if you're capable of it.

Thanks for sharing, and sorry that it took me so long to comment.
